The owners had tried to sell the property and had many prospective buyers even though there was serious cracking to the exterior. No mortgage company was prepared to offer a mortgage due to the structural problems. Underpinning was ruled out completely as the property is a semi-detached house and partial underpinning could have made matters worse.
Our engineers proposed to install a series of Helical Piles through the existing foundation to solve the problem. Once this work was completed along with the installation of an 6mm continuous Helical Bar we were able to offer an insurance backed underwritten guarantee. Once this was presented to the mortgage company, a mortgage was offered along with a new buildings insurance cover.
